Wes Hawkins began his volleyball career in 2010 on the Men’s club team at University of North Carolina-Wilmington. Hawkins played four years, serving two as captain and Co- MVP of the team, and helped take his team to the semi-finals in the 2013 NCVF 1-AAA National Championship. After a brief stint in Europe pursuing professional indoor, he returned to the US to pursue professional beach. He began his competitive beach career in the summer of 2012, Hawkins has since won multiple Open-Level events all over the country and is currently attempting to qualify for the Professional Beach tour.
Hawkins began coaching indoor in 2011 as an Assistant Coach at Cape Fear Volleyball Club in Wilmington, NC. In 2014, after serving as a head coach for two years, he became the Co-Coach at Westchester Country Day School in High Point, NC; and helped them to win their first conference title since 1984. He also served as a coach for Beach South Volleyball and Piedmont Volleyball Club. In 2016, Hawkins relocated to Florida and joined Matt Heath at Vero Beach Volleyball. Additionally, he began coaching the JV team and assisted with the varsity at 9-A Vero Beach High School, making it to the district finals each year thus far. Hawkins is currently coaching at Vero Beach Volleyball as a hybrid club coach, and at VBHS
In addition to volleyball coaching, Hawkins created a specialized jump training and fitness program in 2018, called TwitchFIT.
Hawkins graduated from University of North Carolina-Wilmington with a Bachelors in Communication and Entrepreneurship, and is currently an Event Director and Coach in Vero Beach, Fl.
